With teeth in a day, a temporary top or bottom row of teeth is attached to new implants during the same visit, and the final teeth are completed after healing. Essex Dental Centre, 14 Gosfield Townline E, provides same-day full-arch treatment for suitable patients once an exam and imaging show it fits. Call (519) 776-7319.

How teeth in a day works at Essex Dental Centre

Planning comes first. We examine your mouth, look at your gums, bone and bite on X-rays and CBCT (3D) imaging, and map out where each implant should sit. On treatment day our own dentists place the implants and a temporary row of teeth is connected to them. That first set is not the end point: the implants still have to knit with the jawbone. When healing allows, we complete your final teeth, in fixed or removable options, depending on what suits the patient, and adjust them for your bite. Healing time differs from one patient to the next, so we set your timeline after the exam.

Not everyone qualifies for same-day teeth. Bone volume, the stability of each implant at placement and your general health all play a part. If a same-day approach is not the right call, the implants heal first, the final teeth follow, and we explain why.

Sedation is available for implant cases, so let us know if treatment makes you anxious. Financing and payment plans are offered, and we accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP); what any plan pays toward implant work depends on your coverage.

Dentures and implant dentures are provided by our Essex Dental Centre team. Our implant dentures page in Essex explains the denture side in more detail.

Not every plan needs a full arch. Where some of your own teeth are worth keeping, crowns can protect the weaker ones while implants fill the gaps. See our dental crowns page and our dental implants page for those options.

What a larger treatment plan involves

A larger treatment plan brings several treatments together to rebuild or replace teeth in both jaws when problems are spread across the mouth. It is a sequence rather than a single procedure, and the steps are picked after a thorough exam: crowns, bridges, implants, implant dentures, root canal treatment, gum care or other restorative work, as needed. If an entire upper or lower arch has to be replaced, same-day full-arch treatment (teeth in a day) may be one of those steps. The aim is a bite that works, teeth that look natural on you, and gums and bone healthy enough to hold the plan over time.

Who may benefit

A larger treatment plan may suit you if several of the following apply:

  • Multiple worn, broken, or heavily filled teeth
  • Missing teeth that make chewing difficult
  • A bite that feels uneven, painful, or unstable
  • Ongoing sensitivity or infection involving more than one tooth
  • An old denture or partial that no longer fits well
  • A desire to rebuild function and appearance together rather than tooth-by-tooth with no overall plan

During consultation we review your medical and dental history, gums and bone, bite, photos or models when helpful, and any imaging needed. Some medical conditions, medications, or bone limitations may change the plan. If part of your care is better handled with a specialist referral, we will say so clearly.

Treatments that can be part of a larger plan

Option Often considered when… Things to discuss
Crowns / bridges Teeth can be saved but need strength or a better shape How many teeth; gum health; bite balance
Dental implants One or more teeth are missing and bone allows placement Healing time; number of implants; temporary teeth
Implant dentures You need full-arch replacement with more stability than a conventional denture Removable vs fixed designs; maintenance
Root canal / periodontal care Infection or gum disease must be controlled first Sequencing before final restorations
Conventional dentures / partials A non-implant start fits your health, timeline, or budget Fit over time; when implants might be added later

There is no single right combination for everyone. We compare options based on your exam — not slogans. Related reading: dental implants in Essex and implant dentures in Essex.

The process at Essex Dental Centre

Consultation and records

We examine your mouth, discuss what bothers you most (chewing, appearance, pain, or a mix), and may take X-rays or other images. Together we outline a staged plan so you know the likely order of care.

Stabilizing health first

Infection, gum inflammation, and urgent pain are addressed before final restorative work. That foundation makes later crowns, bridges, or implants more predictable.

Rebuilding in stages

Treatment is usually phased. Temporary restorations may be used while gums heal or while implants integrate. We explain each stage in plain language before you move ahead.

Final restorations and follow-up

Once the foundation is ready, we place the final crowns, bridges, implant teeth, or denture work and adjust the bite. Ongoing cleanings and check-ups at our Essex office help protect the investment.

Timelines and expectations

A larger plan often spans several visits over weeks or months, depending on healing, how many teeth are involved, and whether implants are part of the plan. We avoid promising a fixed calendar before we see your mouth. Comfort options and after-care are reviewed before any surgical or lengthy restorative visit.

Cost, insurance, and CDCP

Fees depend on which procedures you need, how many teeth are involved, and whether implants or laboratory work are included. We provide estimates after we understand your plan.

Private insurance coverage varies by policy. If you have questions about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), see our CDCP information page and bring your coverage details to your visit so we can discuss what may apply.

FAQs

Does Essex Dental Centre do same-day full-arch implants?

We do, when an exam and CBCT imaging show you are a good fit for it. Our own dentists place the implants, and the same-day approach is one of the full-arch options we discuss at your consultation.

What happens after the first day?

The set connected on treatment day is temporary. Once the implants have bonded with the bone, we complete the final teeth and adjust them for your bite. Your timeline is set after the exam.

Is teeth in a day right for everyone?

No. The bone available, the grip each implant gets when it is placed and your overall health all matter. In some cases the implants are left to heal before any teeth are attached, and an exam is the only way to know which path fits you.

Are full-arch implant teeth fixed or removable?

We offer fixed or removable options, depending on what suits the patient. A fixed set is taken off only by the dental team, while a snap-in denture attaches to the implants and lifts out for cleaning. Dentures and implant dentures are provided by our Essex Dental Centre team, who go over the trade-offs with you.

Do I need a full arch, or could crowns and single implants work?

If several of your own teeth are healthy enough to keep, crowns on the weaker teeth and an implant or two for the gaps may be enough. A full arch is usually discussed when most teeth in a jaw are missing or failing. Your exam decides.

Can teeth in a day be part of a bigger treatment plan?

Yes. When care is planned across both jaws, full-arch implants can be one part of that plan, next to crowns, gum care or root canal treatment.

Is sedation available for teeth in a day?

Yes. Sedation is available for implant cases, and your dentist talks through whether it suits you at the consultation.

Can insurance or CDCP help?

We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and financing and payment plans are offered. Coverage varies with the plan and the treatments involved, so take your benefits information to the consultation; our CDCP page has general background.
